Insurance Company recognised for their service with a National Award of Excellence
On the 23rd June 2007 the Association of Aestheticians of Australia (APAA) – Australia’s leading spa and beauty association hosted it’s annual National Awards of Excellence at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre at a colourful Gala Dinner and Dance. Celebrating also the organisation’s Golden Jubilee added to the prestige of the event as distinguished guests including his Worship the Mayor of the Gold Coast Ron Clarke MBE and Mayoress Mrs Helen Clarke and industry leaders came together to celebrate the APAA’s and the professional beauty industry’s achievements.
One of the 11 Categories included is a special category – SERVICES TO THE INDUSTRY. This category recognises the pursuit of an individual who commits to services above and beyond the call of duty or for their commercial gain. It recognises the special attributes of individuals who are visionaries and who care for the welfare and reputation of an industry to give liberally of their time and money to ensure the greater good.
This year’s National Awards of Excellence for Services to the Industry went to Daniel Gumm from Parmia, situated in Brisbane, Queensland.
Following the terrorist attack of 9/11 several industries where adversely effected but none more than the insurance industry. As a result the beauty industry was experiencing numerous problems in securing adequate cover, not to mention the astronomical premiums that were introduced. As a result effective professional indemnity and liability cover was very much in disarray as companies reviewed the new risk factors that were now introduced.
With over 25 years experience in the insurance industry Daniel Gumm pursued for over two years to establish the best possible insurance facility that would safeguard both the professional beauty industry and the public for a broad spectrum of services. These included the higher risk service such as cosmetic tattooing, laser and Intensive Pulsed Light services, both for professional liability as well as professional indemnity. The result was a comprehensive cover that is equivalent to medical malpractice.
When others were failing to provide solutions it took the dedication and commitment of Daniel Gumm to pursue and identify a solution that would once again safeguard an industry and its clients. Daniel’s efforts were recognised by a grateful industry.
